Copper has been worn against the skin for thousands of years by people who needed their joints to keep up with their lives, and the ones who come back to me always say the same thing: they stopped noticing what they used to notice in their wrists.

How do I know if it's real copper?
Pure copper isn't magnetic. Most of the copper jewellery sold online is either plated (a thin copper coating over a cheaper metal like steel or brass) or alloyed with enough iron or nickel to make it feel magnetic. That's the quickest way to spot a fake.
The test is simple:
- 1. Grab any fridge magnet.
- 2. Hold it against your cuff, ring or necklace.
- 3. If it sticks, even slightly, it isn't pure copper.
- 4. If it doesn't stick, you're holding the real thing.
Every piece I make is 99.9% pure copper, never plated and never alloyed with cheap metals. Run the test on yours the day it arrives. If it ever fails, I'll refund you immediately.
Copper Care
Copper gradually develops a darker patina. Keep this aged finish or clean it to restore its shine. Regular wear helps polish the surface.
Cleaning methods:
- Lemon and salt: rub the copper with a salted lemon half for 30–60 seconds. Rinse with warm water and dry straight away.
- White vinegar and salt: add one teaspoon of salt to vinegar. Soak for 15–30 minutes, rinse thoroughly and dry straight away.
- Baking soda and lemon: mix into a paste, then use a soft cloth or old toothbrush to clean engraved details gently. Rinse and dry straight away.
Don't soak mixed-metal pieces.
Avoid: chlorine, pools, seawater, perfume, harsh soaps, chemical cleaners, ultrasonic cleaners, bleach and toothpaste. Remove jewellery before swimming or applying skin products.
Storage: use a dry cloth pouch or airtight bag. Keep away from bathrooms, humidity and prolonged direct sunlight. Store separately to avoid scratches.
Green marks: copper can leave a faint green mark when it reacts with skin and sweat. It is harmless and washes off with soap and water.

We hear this a lot. Usually the difference is the quality of the copper. Many cheaper pieces are only copper-plated or mixed with other metals, so the colour fades or flakes off quickly.
